MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday ordered the removal of tarpaulins declaring the Communist Party of the Philippines, New People’s Army and National Democratic Front as persona non grata in the National Capital Region.

Moreno appealed to the people to “stay out of politics now that there is a pandemic.”

“What we need to do is to continue to give hope to the people. Everyone should spread love and compassion. Stop putting these (anti-Red tarpaulins) in Manila. Whether you are pro-government or anti-government, stop it because I will destroy these,” Moreno said.

The tarpaulins, including the one that was spotted near the US embassy along Roxas Boulevard, carried the logo of the Philippine National Police and National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

“I respect that we have different political views, but there is a time for politics,” Moreno said.
