BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Vice Mayor Jemaima Tan-Yee of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, who is wanted for serious illegal detention, surrendendered in Candon City yesterday.
The Cabugao Regional Trial Court Branch 24 issued an arrest warrant against Yee and her husband Johann on Oct. 25, 2019.
The case was filed by the mother of Aivon Guillermo, a patient at the Tan-Yee Therapeutic Home Care Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Center, which is owned by the couple.
Guillermo said her daughter was not allowed to leave the health facility until her hospital bills, which amounted to P294,168, had been fully paid.
The couple allegedly forced Guillermo’s daughter to work in the clinic for six years.
