Cops rescue minor used as drug mule
MANILA, Philippines — Police rescued a minor who was allegedly used as a drug mule during a sting in Marikina City on Saturday.
According to a police report, the 15-year-old child yielded 20 plastic sachets of suspected shabu during the operation in Barangay Nangka at around 10 a.m.
An informant confirmed that the child was being used as a drug mule, prompting police to case the area.
Authorities said the child was listed as a “high-value” drug target.
Police said they recovered around 100 grams of shabu valued at P680,000 during the operation.
The drugs were turned over to the Eastern Police District’s crime laboratory.
Police said they have yet to determine where the minor sourced the drugs.
The child was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Last June, two minors who worked as couriers for a drug ring were rescued during a sting that yielded at least P1 million worth of shabu in Barangay Nangka.
The National Capital Region Police Office has appealed to Metro Manila residents to report children involved in drugs and other illegal activities.
