ASF hits more Benguet villages

BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — More barangays in Benguet have been affected by the African swine fever (ASF).

Provincial veterinarian Miriam Tiongan said  hogs in Barangays Buyacaoan, Buguias and Caliking in Atok were affected by the swine disease.

Tiongan said online meat trading could be the culprit for the spread of ASF.

ASF infestation remains in La Trinidad, Itogon and Tuba towns, according to the provincial veterinary office.

Tiongan said a massive information drive is being conducted to contain the swine disease in the province.
