Pasay to schedule cemetery visits

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City government will schedule visits to its cemeteries, crematoriums and columbarium following a move by the national government to close down cemeteries during this year’s All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

Starting on Oct. 4, each person will be given an hour to visit and only those aged 21 to 59 are allowed, according to a memorandum signed by city administrator Dennis Acorda on Tuesday.

Only residents of District 1 will be allowed in the Pasay City Public Cemetery and Crematorium every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Constituents of District 2 will be allowed in the cemetery during Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Individuals from other cities, as well as frontliners, are allowed during Sundays.

Only 150 people will be allowed to be in the cemetery at a time.

At the Sta. Clara de Montefalco Parish Church cemetery, only 50 people will be allowed at time while its columbarium would only have a maximum of 20 people at a time.

The memorandum also prescribes that visitors must wear face masks and shields and present valid quarantine passes and identification cards.
