3 soldiers wounded in Maguindanao blast
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Three soldiers were wounded in a roadside bombing in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Wednesday.
Soldiers of the 57th Infantry Battalion were conducting clearing operations in Barangay Salman when a bomb exploded, Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division commander, said.
The wounded soldiers were taken to the Camp Siongco Station Hospital for treatment.
“Inflicting harm on our troops is the desperate device of weakened terrorist groups to attract attention and harbor support,” Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., Western Mindanao Command chief, said.
Last week, a Marine was killed and four other soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded as their vehicle passed, also in Maguindanao.
Meanwhile, farmer Mujahid Guialudin died when he stepped on an improvised bomb that went off in General SK Pendatun town, also on Wednesday. He died while being treated in a hospital.
Lt. Col. Anhouvic Atillano, 6th Infantry Division spokesman, said the Dawlah Islamiya could be behind the attack.
