MANILA, Philippines — More than 150 people, including 24 children, were apprehended for breaking quarantine protocols during a “one-time, big-time” operation in Quezon City on Wednesday.

Ninety-two of the violators were from barangays under the jurisdiction of the Galas police Station 11.

Station 11 commander Lt. Col. Elizabeth Jasmin said among those accosted were minors whom they caught loitering during curfew.

“We lectured their parents before we sent them home,” Jasmin said in a phone interview.

Most of the violators were from Barangays Tatalon, Santol and San Isidro.

Police said the common offenses were not wearing of face masks and shields as well as drinking in public places.

Jasmin said most of the violators were sent home, with only a verbal warning while some were fined for being repeat offenders.

Members of the Fairview police station under Lt. Col. Melchor Rosales arrested 61 people for breaking quarantine guidelines.

Police have intensified the operations against people violating health and safety measures against COVID-19.
