2 killed in Rizal shootout

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A man and his son tagged in kidnapping and other illegal activities were killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in Teresa, Rizal on Wednesday night.

The fatalities were identified as Rodel Basi and his son Romar. Basi’s other son, who has yet to be identified, was arrested.

A shotgun, a caliber .45 pistol and a 9mm were reportedly recovered from the suspects.

Police said a search warrant and an arrest warrant for illegal possession of firearms were being served on the residence of the suspects in Sitio Ibabaw 2 when the shootout occurred.
