Traffic enforcer held in Baguio drug bust

Artemio Dumlao, Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A traffic enforcer was arrested in a drug sting in this city on Friday.

Ginno Manolo Banta, 30, of the Land Transportation Office in the Cordilleras was wearing his uniform when he allegedly sold two grams of shabu to an undercover agent in Barangay Sto. Tomas Proper.

When frisked, Banta yielded .5 grams of shabu and drug paraphernalia, according to Rainier Tinong, Baguio City officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Tinong said Banta had been under surveillance amid reports that he has been using his job as cover for his illegal activities.

The suspect is reportedly with the group of ”high-value” drug suspects Federico Oliveros, who was arrested during a raid in Cebu, and Abdul Abdullah, who surrendered in July.

In Cavite, Jefrrey Herrera, barangay kagawad of Poblacion 4 in Indang, was among 22 drug suspects arrested in drug stings in Cavite, also on Friday.
