1 dead, 5 hurt in Benguet mishap
BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — A municipal councilor died while five others were injured when their vehicle fell off a cliff in Kabayan, Benguet on Saturday afternoon.
Mercury Binwihan, 54, of Tinoc, Ifugao died at the scene following the incident that occurred at past 2 p.m. in Sitio Mangkew, Barangay Pacso.
Taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries were Elsa Paeng, 52; Norwin Carpio, 34; Analiza Carpio, 32; Leizel Ann Dulnuan, 25, and Jonathan Binwihan, 20.
Binwihan was driving a pickup with five passengers on board when he lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to fell off the cliff.
The victims were on their way to a wake of a relative when they figured in the accident.
Meanwhile, in Isabela, two men died when their motorcycle crashed into a tree in Cauayan City on Saturday night.
Jonathan Garania, 23, and his companion Raymond Ramones, 21, were on their way home when they figured in the accident at around 4:30 p.m.
The victims were declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
