1,638 Metro Manila cops get COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — At least 1,638 police officers in Metro Manila have tested positive for COVID-19, National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said yesterday.
He said the figure is small compared to the 9,789 police officers who were tested for the disease. More than 3,000 are still awaiting their results.
Three NCRPO police officers died of COVID-19.
He added that Philippine National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa ordered that oxygen supplies be prepared for “officers who are in need. Most of those under quarantine have low oxygen.”
As of Aug. 24, the PNP reported 3,506 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 2,521 recoveries and 16 deaths.
