Taguig village cracks down on gossips, loiterers
MANILA, Philippines — A barangay in Taguig yesterday warned residents not to loiter outdoors as more people are contracting COVID-19.
In a statement, Fort Bonifacio said most people accosted by barangay officials were caught gossiping outside their homes or playing with their cell phones.
“We do not allow loitering outside the house… we received reports of children playing Mobile Legends, gossiping and playing with their cell phones outside,” it said.
The barangay urged residents to “discipline yourselves, your children and your neighbors to no longer go out at this time.”
It also reminded residents to use the so-called unified quarantine passes issued by the city government or identification cards bearing their address in the barangay when going out to buy food or for other essential or emergency activities.
Fort Bonifacio remains to be the barangay with the highest number of residents infected with COVID-19, with 568 out of the total 2,712 confirmed cases in the city as of yesterday.
