Mild quakes jolt Masbate
MANILA, Philippines — Two mild earthquakes shook Masbate yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake occurred at around 4:43 a.m., with its epicenter located 11 kilometers southeast of Cataingan town.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Pio Corpuz and Esperanza town and Intensity 3 in Cataingan.
Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.5 quake occurred at around 3:26 p.m., with its epicenter traced 15 kms southeast of Cataingan.
In Olongapo City, a magnitude 4.4 quake struck at around 10:31 a.m., also yesterday. The epicenter of the tremor was located 13 kms northeast of Olongapo City.
