Virus-infected cops now at 2,459

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police reported 25 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 on Saturday, bringing to 2,459 the total number of PNP personnel infected with COVID-19.

PNP data showed that a majority of the fresh cases were recorded at the National Capital Region Police Office with 20.

The Calabarzon Regional Police Office and National Operational Support Unit posted three and two cases, respectively.

The number of recoveries increased to 1,494 after 15 more police officers recovered from the disease. The death toll remained at 12.

At least 3,459 police officers who have shown symptoms of the virus or had interacted with COVID-19 patients are being monitored.

The PNP urged personnel manifesting COVID-like symptoms to reach out to the Health Service.
