2 drug suspects slain in ‘shootouts’

MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected drug traffickers were killed in alleged shootouts in Bulacan and Laguna on Tuesday.

Tirso Hernandez reportedly resisted arrest following a sting in Barangay Pantubig in San Rafael town, according to Bulacan police director Col. Lawrence Cajipe.

Police said they recovered 11 plastic sachets containing shabu and a handgun from the suspect.

On the same day, Jeffrey Arazo reportedly engaged police officers in a shootout that resulted in his death in San Pablo, Laguna.

Arazo reportedly drew his gun and shot at the officers who were about to arrest him, triggering a shootout.

Aside from engaging in the illegal drug trade, the suspect was involved in contract killing, according to Col. Serafin Petalio, Laguna police director.
