MANILA, Philippines — The rehabilitation of Marawi City will be completed within the term of President Duterte.

“That is his order and that will be done,” Task Force Bangon Marawi chairman Eduardo del Rosario said.

Del Rosario cited the release of a total of P3.56 billion in April and May to implementing agencies to fasttrack the rehabilitation .

Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman had expressed concern that the rehabilitation of Marawi would not be completed, noting that it was not mentioned in Duterte’s State of the Nation Address.

“We are on track. We are on target to finish most if not all public infrastructure by December 2021 as embodied in our Master Development Plan,” Del Rosario said.

He said full-scale construction works in the so-called ground zero or the main battle zone started last month.

Del Rosario cited the ongoing construction of the Grand Padian market, Marawi Museum, Peace Memorial and 24 barangay halls with madrasahs and health centers.

He said reconstruction of the Dansalan Bato Ali Mosque, groundbreaking of the Marawi City Fire Station and a four-story 20-classroom Integrated School are also scheduled.

Del Rosario said power was also restored in most areas.
