6 cops survive NPA ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Six police officers survived an ambush perpetrated by suspected communist rebels in Sta. Maria town on Monday.
Lt. Bryan Gonzalo, commander of the Calabarzon Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and his men were on three motorcycles on their way to pick up Chinese and Filipino engineers from a dam site when they were waylaid in Barangay Santiago at around 2 p.m.
Pursuit operations for the New People’s Army rebels are ongoing.
