2 robbers slain in shootout

MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected robbers were killed in what police said was a shootout in Quezon City over the weekend.

Police said they have yet to identify the fatalities.

Members of the Batasan police station said they pursued the suspects after they robbed four persons in Barangay Bagong Silangan.

Police said they spotted three men on motorcycles, who fit the description given by the victims.

Authorities said they ordered the suspects to pull over but they sped away, prompting police to give chase.

Police said two of the suspects were killed in the ensuing firefight. The third suspect escaped.

Probers said they recovered from the suspects a handgun, an improvised shotgun, two sachets of shabu and the victims’ valuables.
