Abu Sayyaf leader, followers surrender in Sulu
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A mid-level leader of the Abu Sayyaf and two of his followers surrendered in Indanan, Sulu early this week.
Tuan Annual Jainal, 42, and his followers Mubarak Abdullah, 26, and Nibras Salahudin Tampakan, 41, surrendered to Col. Ignatius Patrimonio of the 1102nd Brigade at Camp Bud Datu in Barangay Tagbak, according to Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., Joint Task Force Sulu and 11th Army Division commander.
Vinluan said the three turned over their rifles and a grenade launcher.
The surrenderees will be presented to Mayor Hermot Jikiri, chairman of the Municipal Task Force-Ending the Local Armed Conflict, for the implementation of intervention programs for their integration into the society.
“I thank Mayor Jikiri and those who helped in encouraging the Abu Sayyaf members to surrender. Without your efforts, this would never happen,” Patrimonio said.
