Quezon City court orders arrest of ex-PIA exec
MANILA, Philippines — A Quezon City court has ordered the arrest of former Philippine Information Agency (PIA) director Harold Clavite over a cyberlibel complaint.
In an order dated June 9 but released to media only yesterday, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 90 said it found probable cause to issue a warrant for Clavite’s arrest.
The court recommended P10,000 bail for his temporary freedom.
State-run Radyo Pilipinas earlier reported that the cyberlibel complaint was filed against Clavite over his remarks on social media.
The Quezon City Police District said members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit had served the warrant on Clavite but he was not home.
Clavite is also facing charges of car theft filed by the PIA before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Clavite resigned from his post amid allegations of corruption.
