New LPA spotted off Davao Sur
DAVAO SUR, Philippines — A low-pressure area was spotted east of Mindanao yesterday as Tropical Depression Carina weakened and dissipated.
The new weather disturbance was monitored 110 kilometers southeast of Davao City as of 3 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
PAGASA senior weather forecaster Chris Perez said the low-pressure area was expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Davao in the next 12 hours.
Perez said the weather system was not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
”It might dissipate or cross parts of the Visayas,” he said.
Perez said Metro Manila and the rest of the country would experience warm and humid weather until weekend.
He said isolated light to moderate rains due to thunderstorms could be experienced for 30 minutes to two hours.
PAGASA said the southwest monsoon was not expected to bring rains until Saturday.
Carina was the third cyclone to enter the country this year and the first weather disturbance this month.
