21 soldiers in Negros Oriental test positive for COVID

Gilbert Bayoran - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Twenty-one soldiers of the Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade in Negros Oriental have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID 19.

The soldiers were placed in a quarantine facility operated by the provincial government, according to Liland Estacion, assistant provincial health officer.

In March, the soldiers were deployed in Cebu to assist in the implementation of the enforced community quarantine imposed by the government to contain the pandemic.

They returned to Negros Oriental on June 23 and underwent swab tests.

Initial result showed seven of them tested positive for the virus. Last week, 14 more tested positive, Estacion said.

Twenty other soldiers tested negative. They were also placed under mandatory quarantine for 14 days to monitor their health condition.
