BOC seizes $15,700 hidden in parcel

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized a parcel containing $15,700 (approximately P778,000) at the FedEx warehouse in Pasay City.

The parcel, misdeclared as “personal documents, was sent from Durham, North Carolina in the United States and consigned to a resident of Parañaque.

Mimel Talusan, BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport district collector, said the dollars were discovered when the parcel passed through a comprehensive x-ray scan and physical examination.

The BOC did not disclose when the parcel arrived in the Philippines.
