Magnitude 4.7 quake jolts Davao Sur
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit Davao del Sur yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred at 2:51 a.m., with its epicenter traced three kilometers southwest of Kiblawan town.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Kiblawan, Columbio, Hagonoy, Matanao, Malalag and Digos City, all in Davao del Sur.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Bansalan, Magsaysay, Padada, Sulop, Sta. Cruz and Davao City in Davao del Sur; Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental; Magpet, Makilala and Kidapawan City in Cotabato as well as Tupi and Tampakan in South Cotabato.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 2 in M’lang, President Roxas and Tulunan, Cotabato; Alabel, Sarangani, and Koronadal City in South Cotabato.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks are expected from the quake.
