Quake hits Davao Oriental
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-4.1 earthquake hit Davao Oriental yesterday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake occurred at 8:33 a.m. and its epicenter was located some nine kilometers northeast of Baganga town.
Instrumental Intensity 1 was recorded in Bislig, Surigao del Sur.
No damage or aftershocks were expected from the tectonic quake, Phivolcs said.
Meanwhile, 30 tectonic earthquakes were recorded on the western flanks and one volcanic tremor at the summit of Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island during a 24-hour monitoring period.
In a bulletin issued at 8 a.m. yesterday, Phivolcs said moderate emission of white steam-laden plumes were observed from the volcano.
