Cop shot dead by colleague

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A police officer was shot dead by his colleague who mistook him for an intruder in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay on Saturday night.

Wearing a hooded jacket, Cpl. Jorge Dick Baltazar reportedly disguised himself as a civilian and entered the police station at around 9 p.m.

Duty guard Pat. Laurence Joseph Ancheta stopped Baltazar, who reportedly drew his gun “for fun.”

This reportedly prompted Ancheta to shoot Baltazar, hitting him in the shoulder and abdomen. Baltazar died while being treated in a hospital.
