Kagawad, SK chairman shot dead

ILOILO CITY , Philippines – A village councilman and a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman were killed by unidentified assailants in Tubungan, Iloilo on Saturday.

Harold Tablazon, 33, of Barangay Ago, and SK chair Glen Bunda, 22, of Barangay Tagpuan, died at the scene.

The victims were on separate motorcycles when the assailants waylaid them at around 6:30 p.m. in Sitio Passi, Barangay Mayang, according to Lt. Rommel Samson, chief of the Tubungan police.

The victims were on their way home from Iloilo City, where they reportedly worked as solar panel installers.

“There was no witness to the incident. The nearest house from where the incident happened was about 300 meters,” Samson said, adding a resident went to the police station to report the incident.

The informant said he heard gunfire and saw the victims slumped on the ground.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive for the killing. They said a black vehicle was seen leaving the area shortly after the incident.
