Governors renew call to include barangay officials in SAP

MANILA, Philippines — The League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) yesterday renewed its appeal to President Duterte to include barangay officials among the beneficiaries of the government's social amelioration program (SAP).

LPP president and Marinduque Gov. Presbitero Velasco Jr. said barangay officials should also receive the cash assistance.

Velasco said barangay captains, council members and peacekeeping officers, who receive meager honorarium ranging from P2,000 to P3,800 a month, have sacrificed a lot in protecting citizens from the coronavirus disease 2019./
