Quake shakes Zamboanga

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-4.9 earthquake hit Zamboanga del Norte yesterday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake occurred at 6:29 a.m., with its epicenter located some 40 kilometers northwest of Siocon town.
It was felt ay Intensity 4, classified as moderately strong, in Siocon and Sirawai towns as well as in Zamboanga City. Intensity 3 was felt in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The temblor was not expected to cause damage or generate aftershocks, Phivolcs said.
