SMC reopens SLEX Alabang southbound entry

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has reopened the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Alabang southbound entry after construction works were accelerated.

The SMC said the toll plaza entry reopened on Sunday, eight days ahead of its original schedule on June 15.

The SLEX Alabang southbound entry was closed to traffic on May 28 to allow contractors to undertake bored piling works for the construction of the Skyway Extension project.

To speed up the completion of the bored piling works while maintaining quality, the SMC said its contractor used two rigs instead of one.

“We want to assure the motorists and the government that the Skyway Extension project will be finished at the soonest possible time. This is to demonstrate our commitment to improve our facilities and services – no matter what the situation or circumstance is,” SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang said.

The company earlier said it would not be able to complete the Skyway Extension project this year after construction works were suspended for two months due to quarantine restrictions.

The SMC said the project’s completion is likely to be pushed back a little from its scheduled target date in December.

The P10-billion project will extend Skyway from Susana Heights to Sucat and back. It will provide a direct access to the elevated section of the Skyway.
