800 LGUs submit SAP liquidation reports

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — More than 800 local government units (LGUs) have submitted liquidation reports on the first tranche of emergency cash subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje renewed the DSWD’s call for LGUs to complete their liquidation reports to ensure the distribution of the second tranche of SAP cash aid.

Asked about the DSWD projection on when they can start the second tranche which was supposed to be given out last month, Paje said a technical working group has come up with the guidelines.

The DSWD had earlier said it would validate the liquidation reports submitted by LGUs to check the eligibility of the beneficiaries and determine if there were duplications.

The agency said it is aware of the need of low-income families whose members still could not work due to the quarantine.

The DSWD said validation and evaluation would be conducted in the city or municipal, provincial and regional levels.

The department’s central office will conduct a deduplication process to check the names of the beneficiaries and their family members with the lists of the Social Security System, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Agriculture and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

Those left out or qualified but were not included in the first tranche of the assistance will be cross-matched with the list of the agencies.

The DSWD said the encoded list of beneficiaries from LGUs has to be completed before the deduplication process can be carried out.
