DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — Five employees of the city government have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

The new cases were confirmed by Mayor Brian Lim in a post on social media yesterday.

The city’s public information office said the new cases were based on results of the first batch of tests sent on Saturday by the Philippine Red Cross.

The infected workers have been isolated and contact tracing has been started.

The city will shift from general community quarantine to modified GCQ effective today.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man became the ninth COVID fatality in Bataan.
