Duterte to Sara: Work hard for your people

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte yesterday urged his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, to work hard for the people.

Duterte issued the statement as Carpio celebrated her 42nd birthday.

“So ‘Day, be true to your country, work hard for your people. And the rewards are, I think maybe are made in heaven, not here. Trabaho ka lang (Just work), and be good. Happy birthday. I love you,” Duterte said in a video posted on the Facebook page of ABS-CBN News. 

He said May 31 is important to him because it is the birthday of Sara and the wedding anniversary of his parents.

“Her mother knows it. When I was cuddling the baby, because I am a Bisaya, I said I’d call her Inday and she will be a mayor of Davao City... It became true. I was on the dot about that,” Duterte said.
