NPA leader surrenders
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — An alleged leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) has surrendered to the military in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, authorities reported yesterday.
Albert Alon, alias Ka Butsoy, squad leader of the NPA’s Sentro de Grabidad Platoon of the South West Front, is the third rebel leader to surrender to the Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion since May 14, according to 15IB commander Lt. Col. Erwin Cariño.
Alon, 27, of Hinobaan town, told authorities that he was recruited to the revolutionary movement when he was 16 years old.
