Magnitude 5.2 quake shakes Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted parts of Luzon yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at around 1:17 p.m., was located 17 kilometers northwest of San Fernando City, La Union.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 or moderately strong in San Fernando, Caba and Balaoan in La Union as well as in Labrador, Bolinao and Dagupan City in Pangasinan.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Urdaneta City and Villasis in Pangasinan, Baguio City, Quezon City, Marikina City and Obando, Bulacan.
The tremor was felt at Intensity 2 in Cainta, Rizal; San Fernando, Pampanga; San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, and the cities of Valenzuela, Navotas, Pasay, Parañaque and Manila.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected from the quake.
