Truck hits tricycle in Nueva Ecija; 2 dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines – Two persons died when a truck collided with a tricycle along the highway in Barangay Caanawan, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday.

Police said the driver of the tricycle, Abigail Paragas, 28, and her passenger Gladys Enopia, 38, were pronounced dead on arrival at the San Jose City General Hospital.

Initial investigation showed truck driver John Mapoy, 27, hit the tricycle while overtaking another vehicle.

The tricycle was hit by another truck driven by Gilbert Regadio, 33.

Mapoy and Regadio were arrested.

On the same day in this province, 24 tons of newly harvested corn were left scattered along the highway in Barangay Naddungan, Gattaran when the truck carrying the cargo fell on its side.
