10 Navotas villages back under ECQ

Rey Galupo, Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Navotas City government is set to return 10 barangays under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) anew starting at 5 a.m. today.

Daanghari, North Bay Boulevard South Dagat-Dagatan, NBBS Kaunlaran, NBBS Proper, North Bay Boulevard North, San Jose, San Roque, Sipac Almacen, Tangos North and Tangos South will be under ECQ until midnight on May 31.

Mayor Toby Tiangco earlier said the city should remain under ECQ due to rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and delayed mass testing results.

As of May 20, Navotas has zero active cases, 96 persons under monitoring and four under investigation.

Muntinlupa, meanwhile, will allow tricycles to operate starting on May 25.

In yesterday’s statement, the city government said Mayor Jaime Fresnedi signed Executive Order 15 allowing tricycles to operate from 5 a.m. to midnight under an odd-even scheme based on the tricycle regulatory unit plate number.

Only passengers authorized to go out of their residences may ride the tricycles.

In Valenzuela, the city council has passed an ordinance that would impose a P5,000 fine on people who crack jokes about COVID-19 that could cause fear, panic and anxiety in the community.

Violators may also be directed to render community service.
