2 NPA leaders surrender
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Two alleged leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the military in Cauayan, Negros Occidental over the weekend.
Hermosilla Villamor, secretary of the sectoral command of the NPA’s Southwest Front in Negros, and Teody Manorte, squad leader of the Sangay ng Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) platoon of the same front, gave themselves up to the Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion, according to 15th IB chief Lt. Col. Erwin Carino.
Villamor reportedly served as political guide of the SYP platoon, aside from being a former finance officer and medical officer of the group. He was reportedly the political guide of the NPA’S Bohol Party Committee Front 1.
Carino attributed the surrender of the rebels to the efforts of the 15th IB’s community support program team operating in Barangay Sangke, Hinobaan town
