CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — No one among the more than 8,000 personnel of an Army unit operating in Southern Tagalog has been infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Preserving the force has been one of our priorities during this pandemic so that we may be able to respond to any eventuality,” Maj. Gen. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr. of the 2nd Infantry Division said.

Burgos said 2,478 soldiers are manning quarantine control points in the region.

In Abra, police officers in San Quintin town all yielded negative results during tests initiated by the municipal health office yesterday.

Mayor Amador Diaz said strict quarantine measures are being imposed in the town to ensure that it remains COVID-free.

The entire province of Abra has only three confirmed cases. All the patients have recovered.
