Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three testing facilities for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 are being built in Zamboanga City, the government said yesterday.

Two of the facilities are being established at the Zamboanga City Medical Center and at the Department of Agriculture PRC laboratory, accprding to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief implementer of the national task force on COVID-19 response.

The testing laboratories will serve patients from Zamboanga peninsula as well as from the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

“The President told me to visit all the places, especially those areas where COVID cases were undertermined due to the lack or absence of testing laboratories,” Galvez said, referring to President Duterte.

The Philippines has so far recorded more than 9,220 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,214 recoveries and 607 deaths.
