Philippine Arena COVID-19 facility to open next week

MANILA, Philippines — A 300-bed quarantine facility at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan will be operational next week.

The “We Heal as One Center” is a partnership of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Iglesia ni Cristo and MVP Group of Companies.

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said 92 cubicles with a floor area of 26 by 105 meters and 104 cubicles with a floor area of 50 by 60 meters were completed in accordance with the Department of Health standard of 3.05 square meters per patient.

Separate toilets for health workers using 40-foot shipping containers, a mess hall, disinfecting tents, a supply storage area and airconditioning system were also set up in the three isolation centers.

Jocelyn Gomez, Bulacan provincial health officer, said the quarantine facility is accepting medical volunteers.

Gomez said another quarantine facility at the Bulacan Medical Center will be operational by Friday. The facility can accommodate 100 patients.
