Quezon City to distribute face masks
MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government said yesterday it will distribute face masks to residents as it begins implementing a policy mandating the wearing of face covering in public places to minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Mayor Joy Belmonte has issued an executive order directing all residents to wear any form of covering for the nose and mouth whenever they are in a public place.
“Those who will implement this directive will be given masks for distribution to residents,” Belmonte said in Filipino. “So that next time, they would not have any reason not to follow.”
The city government has yet to release the number of face masks that will be distributed.
9 frontliners positive
Nine frontliners who are residents of Valenzuela City have tested positive for COVID-19, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said yesterday.
The nine frontliners were among the 10 new cases of COVID-19 in the city.
“The new patients are frontliners working in Department of Health-run hospitals and have gone into isolation since being exposed to COVID-19 patients,” Gatchalian said.
