San Juan COVID cases climb

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City has recorded 126 cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with 24 deaths, Mayor Francis Zamora announced yesterday.

Zamora said there were 446 persons under monitoring (PUMs) and 174 under investigation (PUIs).

All of the city’s 21 barangays have posted COVID-19 cases, with “hotspots” Greenhills and West Crame recording 26 and 15 cases, respectively. 

Zamora said 29 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals and awaiting their second test results.

“The number of recoveries and those being discharged are increasing. Some are just waiting for two consecutive negative test results to be declared recovered,” he said.

In Mandaluyong, 89 COVID-19 cases were reported with nine deaths. There were 382 PUMs and 264 PUIs.

Twenty of the city’s 27 barangays have positive COVID-19 cases, with Highway Hills leading with 16 followed by Maluway, 11, Addition Hills, 10, Plainview, nine, Wack-Wack, seven, Daang Bakal and Malamig with five each, and Bagong Silang, Barangka Ilaya and Hulo with four each.

Other barangays with COVID-19 cases are New Zaniga with three, Poblacion and Hagdang Bato Itaas with two each, and Barangka Drive, Barangka Ibaba, Buayang Bato, Mabini-J. Rizal, Namayan, Pleasant Hills and Vergara with one each.

Hospitals in the city have discharged 26 COVID-19 patients. Ten others have recovered from the disease.
