Taguig drivers to get cash aid twice

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Public transport drivers in Taguig who were displaced by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine started receiving P4,000 each from the city government last week.

An initial 700 jeepney, tricycle and pedicab drivers received financial assistance to help them cope with the coronarivus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The distribution was done in batches, with physical distancing observed to ensure the safety of the drivers.

The cash aid will be given to the beneficiaries twice, according to the local government.

City hall officials said at least 15,000 drivers would receive financial aid from the local government.

The beneficiaries will get another P4,000 next month aside from food packs.

Taguig also gave anti-COVID 19 kits containing vitamins, face masks, antibacterial soap and disinfectant to senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sectors in the city.
