30 Indians nabbed in Quezon City

QUEZON CITY , Philippines — Agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended 30 undocumented Indians at the Capitol Estate in Diliman, Quezon City on Wednesday.

BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said the foreigners tried to resist arrest by assaulting authorities with machetes and sharp objects.

No one was reported hurt in the incident, Manahan said.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the Indians have been overstaying in the country.

The Indians are being held at the BI detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig pending their deportation.
