Abra, Samar town mayors face raps over road clearing

ABRA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has filed administrative cases against the town mayors of Abra and Samar for failure to comply with President Duterte’s road clearing directive.

The mayors of the municipalities of Boliney and Motiong were among the second batch of local executives facing complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the mayors were charged for gross neglect of duty and grave misconduct. DILG

“The local governments of Motiong and Boliney obtained a score of not more than 50 points in the indicators set by the DILG,” Año said.

A total of 97 mayors nationwide were issued show cause orders over non-compliance with the road clearing operations.
