Chinese wounded in road rage shooting
MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man was wounded after he was shot by a motorcycle-riding man following a traffic altercation a few meters away from the Manila city hall before dawn yesterday.
Wenyan Shao, 43, of Elcano street, Binondo, suffered a gunshot to his face. He was taken to the Manila Doctor’s Hospital for treatment.
According to a police report, witness Leo Gambala, 22, was on a motorcycle along P. Burgos street when he saw Wenyan in a Toyota Camry (AAJ-8159) arguing with the assailant at around 1:15 a.m.
Gambala said when Wenyan and the motorcycle rider stopped for the traffic light along Finance Road, the suspect alighted from his vehicle and fired at the victim.
Wenyan crashed his car on the center island following the shooting. The suspect fled after the incident.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
