2 women slain in ambush
MANILA, Philippines — Two elderly women were killed in an ambush in Quezon City on Friday.
Victims Emilia Rumohr, 93, and Brenda Rumohr, 62, were about to enter their house in Barangay Holy Spirit when a lone assailant attacked them at around 9:35 p.m.
Probers said the assailant, armed with a handgun of unknown caliber, first shot Emilia who was seated in the front passenger seat of their Mitsubishi Montero, twice in the head.
The gunman then shot Brenda, who was in the driver’s seat, before escaping.
The victims’ companion, a 72-year-old woman, survived the attack and sought the help of neighbors.
Emilia died at the scene while Brenda died while being treated at the Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation.
The police recovered seven bullet casings and three deformed bullets at the scene.
Probers are looking for leads to determine the gunman’s identity as well as the motive behind the shooting.
