Baguio chills at 10.4 0C
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The temperature in this city dropped to 10.4 degrees Celsius yesterday morning, the second lowest recorded so far this year.
On the first day of this month, the city woke up to 10.2 degrees Celsius, leaving residents in bed and curled under blankets.
The temperature later increased to between 11 and 12 degrees Celsius.
Yesterday’s cold weather was aggravated by winds brought by the northeast monsoon or amihan.
State weather forecasters said that temperatures in higher areas of Benguet such as in the town of Atok as well as along the vegetable belt leading to Mountain Province could be lower by three to four degrees Celsius than in Baguio.
Extreme cold weather can bring frost and affect vegetable farms.
The nippy weather is scaring the public as health experts said the coronavirus disease-2019 or COVID-19 thrives in cold temperature.
