3 NPAs slain in Isabela clash with gov’t troopers
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Three New People’s Army (NPA) leaders were killed in an encounter with government troopers in Isabela on Sunday.
An alias Bobby, said to be an NPA squad leader, and an alias Princess, a medical officer, both of the Cagayan Valley Regional Party Committee, clashed with soldiers of the 95th Infantry Battalion (IB) in Barangay Rang-ayan, Ilagan City, Isabela. The other fatality has yet to be identified.
Lt. Col. Gladius Calilan, 95th IB commander, said an M16 rifle, three caliber .45 pistols and ammunition were recovered from the fatalities.
Calilan said a 16-year-old rebel was rescued while two other NPA leaders surrendered.
On Thursday, NPA- Southern Ilocos Sur leaders Julius Marquez, his wife Ennabel and Ma. Finela Mejia were killed in a clash with soldiers in Sta. Lucia, Ilocos Sur, according to Lt. Col. Rodrigo Mariñas, Jr., 81st IB commander.
Montana said two caliber .45 pistols, a hand grenade, ammunition and subversive documents were recovered at the scene.
